Trauma is traumatic because we experienced it alone

I offer a space where you can be deeply listened to and understood.  Difficult experiences are often traumatic or wounding because we had to experience them alone.  I attempt  to accompany you in the painful places on your journey.  Central to my approach is to help you appreciate and accept who you are, to reduce internal conflict and make life more workable and joyful.

My approach

I first trained in Gestalt and then Integrative Psychotherapy at bcpc and am also influenced my mindfulness/awareness meditation which I have been practicing studying and teaching for 20 years in the Shambhala Tradition.  I work from home in a cabin next to my house  GL6 8LL.
I am a qualified supervisor and tutor on the Psychotherapy course at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling

Relationships

I have a lot of experience and expertise in working with difficult relationships where you may attempt to manage or control other people as a way of trying to look after yourself and am happy to work with you as an individual or in couples counselling.    http://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/counsellor_21743.html

My Experience

I have worked in the NHS, in a small charity and in private practice.  I  teach at bcpc and am pn the faculty of Karuna Training www.karunatraining.
In Oxford I worked with refugees who had experienced severe trauma, dislocation and isolation.   In my private practice I have worked with many people struggling to find who they are.   I  abide by the ethical codes of ukcp  and bcpc.
